It must have been one of the winter shows at PS.1, I no longer remember which one. I didn’t like it, and wrote about not liking it in the review section of Artforum. Shortly after publication, Alana Heiss, the visionary founder/director of PS.1, invited me out for coffee. She was intrigued by what I had written, and suggested I should organize a show of what I thought was important at that moment – basically invited me to put up or shut up. This was the result.
