The Pest of Scotland is a record of the sedition trial of Thomas Muir, before the notorious Lord Braxfield in Edinburgh on 30 and 31 Aug 1793, presented as a drama. The book is made up of a patchwork of voices and images excavated from libraries around the world, with a leavening of pure fiction. Although set in this historical context, the story, which concerns the abuse of judicial power, still has relevance today.
